A former Executive Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Land Resources, Mr Frank Esenwah, has declared interest to contest the Oshimili North State constituency seat, under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 general election.
Esenwah made his declaration on Sunday at his Illah Ward 3 in the local government area and said that he was in the race to serve the people of the constituency and not to be served.
He said he would attract development projects to communities in the area.
He recalled that he had attracted employments to many sons and daughters of Illah, and pledged to do more if elected.
The aspirant called on the delegates to be responsible with their votes and ensure that they voted for a responsive representative who would put their interest first.
According to him, my mission is to serve the people and I want them to support me so that it will be on record that I owe them.
“In elections of these days votes must count, so you must go and market yourself to the people because if you are not credible, dependable and you are not reliable you can’t be elected.
“So, my message here is for them to send me because I represent the best in Oshimili North State Constituency in the House of Assembly election,” he said.
Also speaking, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, described Esenwah as an illustrious son of Illah, an astute lawyer and a politician’s delight who deserved the support of the community.
He assured the people that Esenwah would make a good lawmaker considering his genuine passion for lawmaking and good governance in a representative democracy.
Ifeajika said the Ward leaders would purchase the nomination form for Esenwah as part of their support for his aspiration.
He urged the people and the entire Oshimili North to support Esenwah’s aspiration saying “it is in our best interest.
“Talking about lawmaking, Esenwah has been a lawyer and politician of many years standing.
“It’s on record that Esenwah’s interest had always been to be a lawmaker either at the State Assembly or the National Assembly.
“As a party man he has stood firmly in support of the party since 1999.
“He has shown endurance and perseverance and team play over the years because we have been together in all of these struggles hence my total support for him.
“Since 1999, nobody from North-North axis of the constituency has represented us; it has always been someone from Ibusa axis.
“You saw the endorsements from across the local government area; so, we are fully behind his aspiration,” Ifeajika stated.
Welcoming guests earlier, Chairman, PDP Ward 3, Mr Okonma Odigwe, said Esenwah had the support of the entire Ward and community and appealed to other wards in the local government area to reciprocate Illah’s support over the years.
The ceremony was attended by politicians across the local government area, including Dr Andy Ilabor, Director-General, Directorate of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
