Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State has commiserated with the family of Senator Dino Melaye (PDP, Kogi West) on the demise of his beloved mother, Late Deaconess Comfort Melaye.
In a condolence message to Senator Melaye and the people of Kogi West Senatorial District, Okowa said Mrs. Melaye’s death is a great loss not only to Kogi State but the nation in general, given her invaluable contributions to the cause of humanity.
Governor Okowa’s condolence message was contained in a statement on Saturday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, wherein he described the late Deaconess Comfort Melaye as a quintessential mother, devout Christian and community leader who devoted her lifetime to the service of God and humanity.
Governor Okowa paid glowing tribute to Mrs Melaye for being a good mother and urged the Melaye family to take solace in the fact that the late matriarch lived to witness the enormous successes achieved by her children culminating in the emergence of Senator Dino Melaye as Senator Representing Kogi West Senatorial District in the Nigeria Senate.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I commiserate with my brother and friend Senator Dino Melaye, for the painful loss of his beloved mother, Deaconess Comfort Melaye,” he stated.
He called on the bereaved family to uphold the cherished ideals of community service, kindness and generosity associated with the matriarch of the Melaye family and prayed the Almighty God to grant repose to her soul, and give the Melaye family, the people of Kogi West Senatorial District and the entire nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
