China’s medical supplies for Nigeria and 17 other African countries have arrived in Accra and are scheduled to be delivered to the other 17 countries within a few days.
Apart from Nigeria, other beneficiaries are are Ghana, Senegal, Gabon, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, and Liberia.
The others are Mali, Burkina Faso, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Togo, Benin, Cape Verde, as well as Sao Tome and Principe.
This is as the Nigerian Government is facing criticism from medical and other professional associations over its attempt to invite an 18-member medical team from China to assist in the fight against COVID-19.
Opposing the Federal Government’s move, the Nigerian Medical Association said, “We are therefore profoundly dismayed to learn that the Federal Government is instead inviting the Chinese who from available accounts are not out of the woods themselves… It is a great disservice to the morale of the long-suffering frontline health workforce if the government goes ahead to invite these Chinese doctors.”
