The total number of bridges that have been rehabilitated and maintained by the Federal Government in the past four years are 37 in number, the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, said on Tuesday.
Fashola said this at a press briefing in Abuja while providing details on the partial closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos from midnight of July 24, 2020 to January 23, 2021.
The minister also stated that the Federal Government had commenced investigation to ascertain the cause of the incessant accidents on the Kara Bridge on the approach to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
He stated that between 2015 and 2019, the government undertook a survey of all the bridges in Nigeria to determine their conditions and the urgency of repairs that should be done on them.
