Atlanta 96 Olympics gold medalist Emmanuel Babayaro has tipped Super Eagles to break what he called “Argentina’s World Cup jinx” in Russia.
Eagles would for the fifth time be slugging it out with the Argies in Russia, no thanks to the Friday draw that put Nigeria and Argentina in the same group.
Babayaro who spoke exclusively to Sunday Sunsports after the draw was quick to declare the draw as a good one for Nigeria, adding that Eagles would in Russia face Argentina with more confidence.
“The draw is a good one for us. I m more comfortable with Nigeria being put in the same group with Argentina rather than either Spain or Germany. I see Eagles breaking the Argentina World Cup jinx in Russia. Our boys will approach the game against them with more confidence having beating them at the recent friendly in Russia,” Babayaro said.
Babayaro however warned that Rohr must do something about the team’s goalkeeping problem insisting that the trio of Vincent Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi and newcomer Francis Uzoho are not the best keepers the nation can boast of.
“My worry is the goalkeeping department of the team. Rohr must find a solution to it if our opponents must not exploit that loophole to deal with us. The coach must scout for a new keeper because as far as I m concerned those in the team now are not the best in the country,” Babayaro said.
