This indeed has been an exceptional year for EKO Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC). Eko Electricity Distribution Company has proven to be a risk manager, through its efficiency.
Rounding-off the year, with uninterrupted power supply to its teeming customers, EKEDC is committed to improving relationships with its customers and would continue to engage with them positively.
True, the company, like other DISCOS may have had it rough over the years, but it is still standing strong and serving its customers better. It has experienced vandalisation of its properties, theft of cables and unwarranted destruction of transformers, but this has not debarred the leading electricity industry from delivering its mandates. The Disco has been able to manage its performance through different initiatives. EKEDC has therefore solicited the support of the customers in protecting the DisCo’s electrical installations and energy theft within their locality.
Recently, in the year, it launched four new Customer Complaint Centres (CCC) to provide seamless consumer experience and improved service delivery.
It is part of the strategies put in place by Dr. Tinuade Sanda, the CEO of EKEDC to ensure that quality service was delivered to customers conveniently.
Under her watch, the company’s passion to be value-driven and responsive in its operations, has been applauded by many.
Quoting her, “The opening of these centres is part of our strategy to improve services to customers across our operational network. We want to ensure that when we deliver service to our customers, we deliver quality service in terms of safety in energy delivery”.
“We also believe in convenience and we thought of bringing service closer to the people with these touch point centres,” she said.
Customers ought to take advantage of the various complaint centres by giving feedback and information whenever they notice theft, vandalism, fraud or inappropriate behaviour by the company’s members of staff.
They also need to key into the mobile Meter Asset Provider (MAP) exercise targeted at providing meters within 72 hours of payment by visiting any of the district offices.
Metering is a major concern to the DisCo because there was a need to accurately measure the energy consumed by customers to reduce its losses.
This is why EKEDC recently introduced the Mobile Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme which was coincidentally flagged off in the Festac District.
Customers who have made payments are able to get their prepaid meters within 72 hours rather than the 10 days stipulated by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Not just this, Sanda-led EKEDC has also been reaching out to the needy through its humanitarian outreach. EKEDC’s humanitarian outreach to schools within the company’s distribution network, with donations of school materials and other items, still lingers in the mind of its beneficiaries.
EKEDC gave out 3,330 exercise books and 330 school bags to pupils in 22 primary schools across 11 business districts within our franchise network in October.
It also donated 500 reflective jackets to traffic police and LASTMA officers.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) sometimes in the year got the board’s nod to procure 250 distribution transformers to improve service delivery within its network.
EKEDC’s constant interaction with its customers at different fora has also been helpful in its operations.
Procurement of transformers has been assisting in stable supply of electricity to EKEDC customers, particularly within the Festac area.
It is pertinent to therefore urge those that are yet to obtain their prepaid meters to take advantage of the Mobile MAP to reduce complaints related to estimated billing.
