The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), now has a new Executive Director/CEO. She is Mrs. Nonye Ayeni.The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) is the Federal Government of Nigeria’s apex institution for the promotion, development and diversification of exports. NEPC has over the years worked to achieve its mandate by: coordinating and harmonising export development and promotion activities in the country.Mrs. Ayeni took over from Dr. Ezra Yakusak. The CEO NEPC, Dr. Ezra Yakusak was honoured with the National Productivity Order of Merit Award 2023 (NPOMA) by the Director General, National Productivity Centre.
Ayeni’s significant appointment points at President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to further enhance and reposition the Non-Oil Export Sector as a major contributor to Nigeria’s economy.
Mrs. Ayeni brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served as the Managing Director of Signature Bank Plc, a newly licensed commercial bank in Nigeria.
Her career has encompassed various vital positions, including Deputy Managing Director at Funds and Electronic Transfer Solutions Limited (FETS) and serving as an Independent Non-Executive Director at the FMDQ Exchange until September 2022.
Prior to these roles, she held the position of General Manager at Zenith Bank PLC, overseeing a wide array of Divisions, from Treasury and Financial Services to Business Development, Human Resources & Human Capital Management, among others.
Ayeni’s extensive banking background spans over 25 years, providing her with expertise across diverse aspects of core banking. Her profound knowledge encompasses International and Domestic Operations, Payments, General Management, Business Development, Risk Management, Customer Satisfaction, Human Resources, and Strategy.
We are confident that Mrs. Ayeni’s leadership will bring further significant changes leading to an increased growth and success of the sub-sector.
Recently, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in collaboration with the Nigerian Export- Import (NEXIM) Bank, Bank of Industry (BOI) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in coordinating the participation of Nigerian exporters/ companies at the 3rd Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) scheduled to hold in Cairo, Egypt from 9th – 15th November, 2023.
Criteria for joining the exhibition are listed below:
Interested participants must:
• Be registered exporters with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC)
• Be exporters/Manufacturers of products (goods & services) of Nigerian origin.
• Have products with necessary certifications (mandatory & non-mandatory).
• Have product(s) that are well packaged and labelled.
• Have the financial/production capacity to export within the African continent and beyond.
• Have the ability to generate and execute export orders.
The Trade Information Department of NEPC, in furtherance to fulfilling the mandate of the Council is equally responsible for registration of exporters and issuance of the Exporters’ Registration Certificates to companies who have satisfied the conditions and requirements stipulated.
The E-Registration Unit is one of the Units in the department saddled with the task of registering exporters for the Council. The current E-registration platform known as the “NEPC Exporters’ E-Registration Platform (NEEP)” was launched on the 3rd of April, 2017 and only companies registered after this date are eligible for renewals. All companies registered before this date with expired certificates will need to migrate to this current platform by registering afresh for a new certificate.
Anyone willing to engage in export business is required to register with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). They can only register as an exporter via the online E-Registration Portal, known as “NEPC Exporters’ E-Registration Platform.The required documents depend on the type of business entity statutorily allowed to register and obtain Exporters’ Registration Certificate.
