Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated former President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Wahid Enitan Oshodi, on his election as the President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said the elevation of the former Deputy President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) to President of the Federation is well deserved.

Oshodi, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Development, was elected as President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF) at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Federation held on Tuesday, October 15, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said Oshodi, the current Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), has earned the confidence of his colleagues and other stakeholders to lead the African Table Tennis Federation based on his records of achievements and contribution to the growth and development of sports, especially table tennis at national and continental levels.

He said, “On behalf of the Lagos State Government and millions of Lagosians, I rejoice with a worthy citizen of our dear Lagos State, Wahid Enitan Oshodi, on his election as the President of the African Table Tennis Federation.

“Oshodi’s election as President of ATTF is good news to us in Lagos and Nigeria. He deserves the new position, having distinguished himself in several positions he has occupied in the past at the state, national, continental and international levels.

“He has contributed immensely to the development of sports and table tennis in particular for many years and has displayed exemplary leadership and managerial skills in several positions he has occupied in the past. I believe his election as the President of the African Table Tennis Federation is well deserved.

“We are proud of him and we believe that he will use his new position to lift the fortunes of table tennis in Nigeria and Africa and raise the bar of the sport to compete with the rest of the world.”
