ValueJet has been adding routes at a pace that reflects how far the airline has come since Captain Omololu Majekodunmi led it through its first commercial operations in 2022. From a starting point of three core domestic destinations, the carrier now operates across multiple cities in Nigeria and has extended into West Africa with services to Accra and Banjul, establishing itself as one of the top three domestic airlines in Nigeria.

The airline’s domestic expansion accelerated in 2026. The Lagos-Owerri service was upgraded from three weekly flights to daily operations from March 23, 2026, in response to consistent passenger demand on the route. On May 18, ValueJet launched daily flights between Owerri and Abuja, connecting the South-East directly to the Federal Capital Territory for the first time under the airline’s network. The Accra-Banjul route, which launched on May 14, extended ValueJet’s regional footprint to a third West African market.

Captain Omololu Majekodunmi, the airline’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, has described the expansion as deliberate rather than reactive. “These new routes represent another important step in our mission to make air travel more accessible and convenient for our passengers,” he said at the time of the May route launches. “We remain committed to expanding our network strategically and providing reliable flight services that meet the evolving needs of travellers within Nigeria and across the West African region.”

What has given ValueJet the foundation to expand is its record on punctuality, which has become the defining feature of how passengers and industry observers talk about the airline. On-time performance has been a stated operational priority from the beginning, and the airline has positioned itself publicly as West Africa’s most punctual carrier. Its Chief Financial Officer, Imaabin Kenoye Elliot, has noted that punctuality is not only a service commitment but a direct driver of revenue, with on-time turnarounds enabling higher flight frequency and better aircraft utilisation.

ValueJet is the official air carrier of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, a relationship that Majekodunmi has spoken about with visible pride, and one that carries both practical and reputational weight for the airline. The carrier also launched an AI-powered passenger experience tool in January 2026, adding technology investment to an operation that has historically led on operational reliability rather than digital features.

Majekodunmi has built a leadership culture that is unusually accessible for the aviation sector, with direct communication channels open to passengers who want to reach management. That approach runs alongside the operational discipline that has made ValueJet one of the more consistent performers in a domestic market where reliability has historically been in short supply.
