DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has called on Delta State Students to embraced skill acquisition.

Governor Okowa who made the call yesterday (15/02/18) in Oghara during a skill acquisition awareness programme Tagged “EVEN A PROFESSOR NEEDS A SKILL ” charged youths to embrace skill acquisition so as to curb unemployment and create entreprene

Senator Okowa, represented by Hon. Karo Ilolo, Commissioner for Youths, said that the state government was desirous of reducing youth unemployment through youth empowerment and job creation stressing that “this is why we have embarked on Skills Acquisition sensitization in our various institutions across the state in curbing criminality and creating entrepreneurs” adding “We will continue to support skills acquisition programme to reduce unemployment, we will also provide Starter Packs to graduate students to enable them start their enterprise. ”

He applauded The organizers for the sensitisation programme and reiterated the commitment of his administration in the reduction of unemployment rate in the state, while urging the students to look beyond their certificate.

The Executive Secretary of Delta State Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency Mrs Shimite Bello who was one of the Speakers noted that the World at the moment is no longer in the era of certificate but Sabificate and having a skills will showcase you to the world and also save you from financial slavery.

other speakers including the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara, Prof. Emmanuel Opujor, House of Representative Member, Hon Lovette Idisi Ethiope, Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor and Directorate of Orientation Barr EA Uzumnism, admonished students on Skills Acquisition.

Earlier the organizers of the programme, Political Aide On Students Affairs Comr Okoh Ezekiel Oghenetega and Political Aide on Special Duties [Media] Mr Ossai Ovie Success noted that the objectives of the entrepreneurship awareness programme was to sensitise students on the need to acquire skills while in school, adding that it was also meant to grow a new generation of Entrepreneurs from among students even before graduation.
