A middle-aged man has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command in connection with the circumstances surrounding the murder of his ex-wife, Mariam Sani.
Sani, 22 was said to have been raped and murdered on Wednesday at Galli in the Mashi Local Government Area of the state.
But the police spokesperson for the command, SP Gambo Isah, refuted the rape claim, noting it was a case of “culpable homicide.”
Isah said, “The case is that of culpable homicide. Few minutes to Mariam’s death, people saw her pulling a wheel barrow near her house.
“Neighbours however found her corpse in her room the following day while police investigation on her death has led to an arrest already, while investigation still continues. We have arrested her former husband whose name will not be disclosed for now because of ongoing investigation.
“We traced Mariam’s last phone calls and we discovered that the suspect called her and made some utterances. We further discovered that the former husband was making efforts to reconcile with Mariam who, unfortunately, was already in love with another man.”
