…….AS Dietake Emerges Chairman, Administrative Officers Forum

As the Administrative Officers Forum holds its 4th Biennial General Meeting yesterday [11-10-18] in Asaba, Delta State Head of Service, Mr Reginald Bayoko has stressed that discipline and diligence were fundamental factors in achieving improved service delivery in the civil service.

Those elected were Samuel Dietake, Chairman; Felicia Owhofasa, Vice Chairman; Mr Orameka, Secretary General; Okobi Ikechukwu, Asst, Secretary; Blessing Ojighoro, Provost I; Agadigho Kate, Publicity secretary; Umuwhero Martins, Provost II among others.

Mr. Bayoko stated that without discipline and diligence,e failure to efficiently carry out one’s duties would be evident, saying ” As public officers it is your responsibility to abide by the code of conduct of the civil service and that includes exercising discipline in our various workplace and diligence in service delivery; only then can we achieve success as competent workers and promoters of the agenda of the government”.

“You have to carry out your duties with virtue and that can be achieved by abiding to God’s word, adhering to the rules of the service and by striving to contribute to the development of your designated office” he added.

Describing the theme of the forum, “Discipline and Diligence, Christian Ethos and Their Application In Public Service Delivery” as apt and essential, the Head Of Service, commended the previous executive committee of the Forum for a successful tenure.

The Permanent Secretary Government House and Protocol/Out-going Chairman of the Forum Mr Eddy Ogidi-Gbegbaje in his valedictory address observed that the theme of the forum was chosen “as we were mindful of the need to add value to knowledge as well as provide direction to the forum”.

Mr Ogidi-Gbegbaje commended the brotherliness among the members during his tenure and charged them to show the same cooperation and solidarity to the incoming executive committee

Delivering a lecture Bishop Chuka Agwuegbo explained that public officers’ character and attitude towards work should be attuned with hard work, discipline, diligence, trustworthiness, honesty and faithfulness.

He charged public officers to be innovative, creative and God-fearing so as to provide efficient and effective service delivery.

Mr Samuel Dietake in his acceptance speech thanked members of the forum for the opportunity to serve and promised that his EXCO would diligently carry out their duties and fulfil the objectives of the forum
