Oghenekaro Etebo has labeled the Super Eagles’ participation at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations a huge disappointment despite ending as the third best team, Sports Extra reports.
The 23-year-old midfielder played in all seven games for Nigeria at the tournament where they clinched a record eight bronze medal.
“It has been an interesting but hectic summer. It’s the same as last year when I went to the World Cup and had about two weeks break,” Etebo was quoted on Stoke Sentinel.
“But I’m fine; I’m all right, because the fitness is still there. I’ve just had a rest for a fortnight so I haven’t really lost any fitness and we’ll see how it goes.

“The tournament was disappointing, even though we did well to reach the semi-finals.
“It was a big blow at the end because Algeria scored the winning goal with 10 seconds to go and there was nothing we could do. I was sure we were going into extra-time and we would win the game because they looked dead on the pitch.
“But it’s football. When we played South Africa in the quarter-finals we scored our own winning goal in the last minute, so it happens.”
