President João Lourenço on Wednesday dismissed three general officers from the Angolan armed forces under provisions of the National Defence Law and the Armed Forces regulations, after a briefing by the National Security Council.
The three are General Henrique Futy, the adviser to the Chief of the Security Office of the Presidency, Lieutenant-General Leopoldino Fragoso do Nascimento, the adviser to the Minister of State and Chief of the Security Office of the Presidency, and Lt-Gen Fernando de Brito Teixeira de Sousa e Andrade, also an adviser to the Minister of State and Head of the Security office of the Presidency.
A statement from the Presidency said that also on Wednesday, as Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, President Lourenço signed an order to retire General Afonso Lopes Teixeira Garcia, a consultant to the Minister of State and Head of the Security Office of the Presidency, and Lt-Gen Inocêncio Yoba, who is on the inactive list, upon their reaching the age of retirement.
