“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader” – John Quincy Adams.
Dr. Tinuade Sanda, has redefined the meaning of leadership, within one year as the CEO/MD of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, inspiring many around her. On March 30, 2023, Dr. Tinuade Sanda clocked one year as the Managing Director of the leading Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria. A feat she has attained with no stain or blemish on her white garment, adorned with many laurels of accomplishment. She runs the company with every sense of responsibility, making giant strides as the first female MD of the company.
Those close to her say she symbolizes purposeful, passionate and peerless leadership. Her one-year record in the saddle of EKEDC has been nothing short of phenomenal.
She is one of the few female professionals in Nigeria, who have built a long and established career relentlessly. As for Tinuade Sanda, she built hers in corporate finance and administration. After her appointment, many were eager to see what the reputed change-maker would do at the helm of a big energy company in a very challenging industry. On the evidence of her one-year record, it is now abundantly clear that she has provided an adequate enough response to all the curious minds!
EKEDC, under Sanda, has been keen on its projection to supply a minimum of 20 hours of uninterrupted electricity within its network areas in 2023. In just some months under her leadership, EKEDC recorded: its highest levels of power distribution to its customers, its highest collection ever, and its lowest ever ATC&C losses. EKEDC also recorded substantial reduction in work-related accidents, and marked increase in staff retention. It distributed over 46,000 meters to its customers through its Mobile MAP Initiative, while also taking delivery of 150 brand new transformers meant for communities with shortages. It has been an unprecedented activity and result-packed period in the life of EKEDC.
Dr. Tinuade Sanda sees this as a non-negotiable deal, as the power grid keeps doing the needful.
Under her leadership, there has been installation of transformers within its network areas. EKEDC has also improved on its metering for consumers and fixing of tripping feeders.
The beautiful Doctorate degree holder, on assuming office, first looked inward to address the company’s service delivery within its network. The company has also focused on distribution of about 150 new distribution transformers. This has addressed overloaded transformers in some areas.
The federal Government, no doubt has invested heavily into the Transmission Company of Nigeria, to address the issue of grid collapse.
So far, in the year 2023, under Sanda’s leadership, EKEDC is working assiduously on ensuring that customers get improved service delivery; EKEDC also wants to ensure they are billed accurately.
EKEDC has over the years, been settling its market obligations in full, addressing the rehabilitation of its tripping feeders, while it also has guaranteed uninterrupted power supply.
Evidently, under Dr. Sanda’s leadership, EKEDC has served purpose, passion, and truth. She has led with a clear sense of purpose and direction, representing unrivalled excellence. These are the attributes by which she has led EKEDC, and by which the company is rapidly shattering previous records of success against all odds.
