The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa today July 28, 2021 offered to establish an Anti-corruption Club at the Nasarawa State University to enhance the fight against corruption among students and teachers of the institution.

Bawa made this offer while responding to a request by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Sulaiman Bala Muhammad who led a delegation on a visit to the corporate headquarters of the EFCC in Abuja.

According to Bawa, ‘’EFCC will commence the process of establishing an anti-corruption club at your university; we are going to that’’.

Speaking earlier, Professor Bala Muhammad said the purpose of their visit was to seek collaboration with the EFCC, in areas relevant to the mandates of the Commission and the University.

He said the institution is conscious that the Commission have a robust Academy and quality staff, which the University can leverage on.

“That is why we need a wide range of cooperation that will include joint workshops and conferences that will also include research, exchange of staff and opportunity for sabbatical ,’’he said.

The Vice Chancellor thereafter submitted a proposition letter for consideration, which may form the nucleus of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.

Bawa assured that the Commission will study the letter, noting that EFCC is delighted by the bouquet of cutting edge programmes available in the institution and the fact that it has exploited its close proximity to Abuja in providing manpower development opportunities to public servants working in the Federal Capital Territory.
