Indigenes of Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State are already set to celebrate with one of their own; Dr.(Mrs) Doris Amaka Ochei as she presents to her Alma mater, Ezemu Girls Grammar School; a multi-million naira multi-purpose hall built by her Foundation. Dr. Ochei is a member of Ezemu Girls Grammar School Old Students Association (EGGSOSA).
The event which is scheduled to place on December 27, 2022 at the college premises is to be chaired by a United States of America based son of Ubulu-Uku, Mr. Uche Chiemeka.
AtlanticNewsonline gathered that the state of the art multi-purpose hall building was single-handedly constructed by Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei Foundation (DAO); a duly registered non-profit organization established to promote humanity with community development as a major focus.
The DAO Foundation was founded in 2018 and officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as a legal entity. According to information in the Foundation’s profile, it is not established for personal financial gains but for the advancement of public interest, especially the well-being of the less privileged.
The Foundation’s activities largely centre on transformative works such as offering solutions to environmental challenges, poverty and other peculiar problems within its capacity. Specifically, the Foundation carries out community development and capacity building activities for the less privileged in the society.
Propelled by her philanthropic spirit, Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei, who in recent years had helped in the formation of an Old Girls Association of Ezemu Girls Grammar School, felt the need to reposition the infrastructural state of the college which had laid the foundation of who she is today.
Born into a humble family of Mr. Fidelis Nwaefulu of Ubulu-Uku, Doris had proceeded to University of Lagos on completion of her secondary school education at Ezemu Girls Grammar School. She studied Accounting at the University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
In search of more knowledge, she later secured admission into the prestigious University of Wales, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland where she obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration. She proceeded further to obtain a Master of Philosophy in Public Policy and Administration (M.Phil) at Walden University, United States of America.
Married to Brigadier General Raymond Ochei of the Nigerian Army, Doris is by no means, a pedestrian personality as her deep interest in academics literally stands her out as a giant. Not done with a Bachelor and two Masters degrees, she went further to obtain a Doctorate degree (PhD) in Forensic Accounting and Audit from Charisma University, Turks and Caicos Islands, British Territories in the Caribbean Island of North America.
Professionally speaking, Dr(Mrs) Doris Amaka Ochei in the course of her career, has attained the position of Fellow and Member of many professional bodies. She is a Fellow of the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (IICFIP), USA, the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
The DAO Foundation Chieftain is also a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC) and Chartered Institute of Finance and Control on Nigeria (CIFCN). She is also a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), the Institute of Stock Brokers of Nigeria (ISBN), the Institute of Directors of Nigeria (IoD), the International Woman in Business (IWB), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigerian (ICAN) among others.
As a highly distinguished personality within the social and professional space; Dr. Ochei has been honoured with many awards both within and outside Nigeria. The awards include the African Leaders of Integrity Award (UK), Woman of Merit Gold Award (UK), Child’s Dream Award, Our Majesty Global Publication Award and Female Achievers Award.
Other awards she has garnered over the years include Outstanding Performance and Managerial Skills Award, Outstanding Performance and Achievement Award, Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Nigerian Selfless Service Gold Award, People, State and Resources (PSR) National Award and National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools Award.
She has also been conferred with awards by Living Legend International Magazine Award and Global Communication (Globacom) Nigeria Limited Award.
Dr. Ochei once held the office of Secretary of the Nigerian Diplomats’ Wives Association (NDWA), United Kingdom chapter. This is a prominent organization that provides charity for the less privileged both within and outside Nigeria.
In the corporate space, Dr. Doris Ochei is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Findrex Group of Companies, President of Aquavel Inc. USA and Executive Director El Lyon Alliance and Securities Limited. She is the Proprietor of Findrex Aviation Business School and Founder of Aviation Business Development College. Currently, she is a Board Member of Capstone Microfinance Bank, Lagos and Top Scholars Nursery and Primary School, Lekki Lagos.
In running her DAO Foundation, Doris Ochei has demonstrated absolute commitment to her vision by single-handedly embarking on her humanitarian activities without waiting for any financial assistance from individuals or donor agencies.
Over the years, her Foundation has provided charity and medical care for barren women just as many people have benefitted from her Foundation’s community development and capacity building for the less privileged in society without discrimination.
Through DAO Foundation, she has financed the drilling of 18 Solar powered boreholes in different parts of Ubulu-Uku, her Alma mater Ezemu Girls Grammar School and neighbouring communities. Ever since she initiated the Ezemu Girls Grammar School Old Students Association (EGGSOSA), she has contributed significantly to the growth of the Association financially and otherwise.
She has also built houses for the homeless and supported many people with cash donations towards business ventures and educational pursuits, locally and overseas in pursuit of greener pastures
