The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have withdrawn their threat to disrupt the elections in Anambra state in November.
The threat was withdrawn following a meeting convened by the Ala Igbo International Foundation in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
Ala Igbo has traditional leaders, Igbo professors, and religious leaders as members. Leader of IPOB, Mr Nnamdi Kanu, who called for the boycott of the election, was present at the meeting.
Kanu briefly said, “I came because of my respect for elders. IPOB is not a violent group.
We are law abiding citizens of the society. Our discussion today will guide us in the issue of Anambra election. I will go and meet with the leadership of IPOB.”
