Israeli forces detained at least 16 Palestinians, including two journalists, during predawn raids across the occupied West Bank on Monday.
According to Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), Israeli forces detained five Palestinians from the southern West Bank district of Hebron; they were identified as Abdullah Nidal al-Huroub, Firas Abu Shreikh, Wael Abu Shreikh, Hazem Jibril al-Jiyawi and Ibrahim Muhammad al-Najjar.
In the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, two Palestinians were detained and identified as Maher Abdullah and Shadi Nawawreh.
In the central West Bank district of Jerusalem, PPS confirmed that Israeli forces detained a Palestinian journalist, Nader Bibars, after raiding his home.
In the central West Bank district of Ramallah, two Palestinians were detained, PPS identified them as Ibrahim Riad Atta and journalist Ibrahim Ahed al-Rantisi, who works for Turkish “TRT TV”; Rantisi was detained after Israeli forces raided and searched his home.
East of the Ramallah district, Israeli forces assaulted and detained four Palestinian brothers identified as Muhammad, Maamar, Khleif and Tayel Malihat.
In the northern West Bank district of Qalqiliya, one Palestinian was detained and identified as Tareq Salmi, 25.
In the northern West Bank district of Tulkarem, Israeli forces detained another Palestinian; PPS identified him as Alaa Rafiq Damiri, 38.
According to the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate, Israel currently has 22 Palestinian journalists in custody.
Meanwhile, there are currently 5,900 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons.
