Jose Mourinho has never been the biggest vocal supporter of Anthony Martial, and the Man United boss was reportedly furious with the winger after their loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
The general consensus from the match was Mourinho got the line up wrong, with Alexis Sanchez being accommodated – and Paul Pogba having to hold a deeper position in the midfield, something that did not work out so well.
In addition, Martial started the game on the right flank, and failed badly in his manager’s eyes – meaning Mourinho will once again look for a left winger come the summer according to the MEN.
The United boss changed things in the second half, but it was too late, and the club were fortunate it was a night where Chelsea also dropped points, given they’re in a race for the top four and indeed the ‘best of the rest’ after Manchester City carried on winning and making sure they were running away with the Premier League title.
Mourinho has claimed he wants his side to be properly challenging for every trophy come 2020, and while there have been some good points this season, against the big sides they simply haven’t been at the races – and to actually win proper trophies, that will have to change.
