The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been commended by the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA for its drive and energy in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes.
This commendation was given on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in Uyo when the Uyo zonal head of the EFCC, Uchenna Edeh led a delegation of officers of the zone to the television station on a Courtesy Visit.
Receiving the delegation, Ohifeme Aigbochie, the General Manager, NTA Uyo, said the Commission has raised the level of consciousness of Nigerians against corrupt practices, adding that everyone, especially public servants in the country, are aware of the eagle eye.
“EFCC so far has been able to raise the level of consciousness against corruption, especially among the untouchables. Now, everybody knows that whatever we do, the eagle eye is watching us. I must commend you for that. I also want to commend the resourcefulness, drive and energy with which your agency is discharging its duties to make sure it delivers on its mandates”, he said.
He assured the Commission of the station’s support in its fight against corrupt practices. “I want to assure you, as partners in progress, to assist you and make sure that all your activities are given adequate publicity within and outside the state so that collectively, we shall win the battle against corruption”, he said.
Responding, Edeh said the purpose of the visit was to seek partnership from the station. He described the media as “a major stakeholder”, stressing that “I’ve always believed that if we educate one Nigerian, we will have a better one million Nigerians as the resultant effect of one educated Nigerian. He thereafter called on the management of the station to always share credible intelligence with the zone on economic or financial crimes- related matters.
Edeh paid a similar visit to the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, AKBC, where he had an audience with its Director- General, Pastor Anietie Ukpe.
