Oborevwori lauded the National Youth Service Corps for the effective management of the scheme in promoting national unity and cohesion.

He said it was the responsibility of the corps members as future leaders to contribute their quota in salvaging the nation by shunning all forms of social vices which could militate against the growth and development of the country.

Oborevwori said: “The NYSC has achieved much through the implementation of its programmes nationwide and I commend managers of the scheme, past and present, for keeping the flame and spirit of national unity and integration, alive.

“It is your responsibility as future leaders, to help salvage this country, to realize the fulfillment of our collective aspirations as a people, we should be ready to eliminate ethnicity, religious fanaticism, corruption, drug abuse and other social vices, which had hitherto hindered our development.

“This three weeks training is aimed at accelerating national development and unity through inculcation of the virtues of selfleness, humility, sacrifice and dedicated service to the nation,” he said.

The Governor further assured the corps members of adequate security and protection in any part of the state all through their service year and beyond.

“In pursuance of our policy of embarking on a meaningful people-oriented government, I wish to assure you that my administration will always protect you and ensure that you are safe wherever you are.

“It is my wish that this one year of national service in Delta State should be the finest of your memoir,” he added.
