Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has felicitated with foremost lawyer and Owelle of Ogwashi-Uku, Chief George Uwechue, SAN, on his 82nd birth anniversary.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, the governor extolled the octogenarian for his sterling contributions and accomplishments in the legal profession.

He said that as senior lawyer, former member of the House of Representatives and a former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Uwechue had contributed immensely to the growth and development of the legal profession in the country, having been called to the Bar in 1966.

“As a life Bencher and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), Chief George Uwechue has indeed paid his dues and contributed to the legal profession in Nigeria.

“With a blistering legal career spanning over 54 years, his achievements in the profession will continue to inspire many to take to the legal profession and contribute to nation-building.

“As the Owelle of Ogwashi-Uku, the celebrant has continued to contribute to the growth and development of his immediate community.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate our elder statesman and leader, Chief George Uwechue, SAN, on the occasion of his 82nd birth anniversary,” Okowa stated.

The Governor prayed God to grant the legal luminary longer life and good health to continue in his service to God and humanity.
