Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has felicitated with former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Festus Agas, as he clocks 60 years on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, on Tuesday in Asaba, the governor said that Agas, a former Deputy Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, was an illustrious Deltan, who was ever committed to the development of the state.
He commended the former SSG, who is currently his Chief Strategist, for his outstanding contributions to the socio-economic and political growth of Delta and Nigeria.
The governor noted that Agas, an astute journalist, lawyer and politician, had had a distinguished career in the private and public sectors spanning over 35 years, saying that the period was “a life of impact and outstanding accomplishments’’.
He also lauded Agas for the peaceful executive-legislature relations which existed while he served as Deputy Speaker in the State House of Assembly and SSG.
He urged the Chief Strategist to sustain his contributions to humanity by developing further ideas that would lead to efficiency and effectiveness of governance and sustainable development of the state.
“With his core competences in strong leadership and execution skills, Ovie Agas has brought his wealth of experience to bear on the administration of Delta.
“He has had remarkable years working very hard for the people of Delta and Nigeria, and in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Delta, he was appointed Secretary to the State Government in 2015, a position he held with dignity and performed to the admiration of Deltans.
“Festus Agas has continued to blaze the trail by providing and offering leadership at various levels of governance in the state.
“Over the years, you have by dint of hard work and discipline, established yourself with an unblemished leadership style laced with team-player spirit and this has endeared you to many Deltans and Nigerians.
“You exhibited absolute leadership as the pioneer Director-General of the Okowa Campaign Organisation in 2014, which you led to our landslide victory in 2015.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate you my dear brother and friend,
Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, on the occasion of your 60th birth anniversary.
“At 60, your family and indeed, your political and business associates and admirers have cause to be grateful to Almighty God for having granted you a life of great accomplishments and abiding fulfillment,” the governor stated.
