…parade 40 kidnappers’ suspects arrested along Abuja-Kaduna highway
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Thursday, dismissed four police personnel in orderly room trial for allegedly burgling the house of the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.
Those dismissed are Sgt. Musa Musa,Sgt John Nanpak , Sgt Ogah Audu and Sgt Gabriel Ugah. Two other accomplices: Inspector Lengs Satlakau and Inspector Usman Wuduki that were also charged had their (orderly room trial) cases referred to AIG Zone 7 because of their ranks.
They were found culpable in stealing items belonging to the former president such as, six television sets, fridges, air-conditioners, Ijaw attires and designer suits. The men burgled Jonathan’s former residence in Gwarimpa and sold the items they stole to traders at the Pankera second-hand market in Gwarimpa, Abuja, the police said.
FCT police command said in a statement that: “In fulfillment of the promise by the FCT Police Command to make public its findings on the investigation of the case of theft at the Gwarimpa residence of Former president, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, the Command wishes to state that in line with first schedule of police Act and regulation 370 Cap 19, the Policemen guarding the house have been tried in an orderly room proceeding and found culpable of the offence.
“Sequel to the out-come of the orderly room proceeding, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Musa Kimo has approved the immediate dismissal of the following police Rank and Files from the Nigeria Police Force: F/No. 436691 Sgt Musa Musa F/No. 235422 Sgt John Nanpak iii. F/No. 261898 Sgt Ogah Audu F/No. 425210 Sgt Gabriel Ugah.
“Meanwhile, orderly room proceeding in respect of AP/No.141199 Inspr Lengs Satlakau and AP/No. 150566 Inspr Usman Wuduki has been forwarded to AIG Zone 7 for further action. Further:
“The Command state that the main culprit F/No. 436691 Sgt Musa Musa will be charged to court for prosecution while efforts have been intensified to arrest his accomplice one Mallam Shuaibu who is presently at large.”
It said that action taken is in compliance with the vision of the Inspector General of Police IGP Ibrahim Kpotun Idris to rid the Nigeria Police Force of criminal elements that are out to disparage the good image of the Force.”
Meanwhile, the Police on Thursday paraded another set of 40 kidnappers suspects arrested along Abuja – Kaduna highway during the week by it men deployed to clear the highway of kidnappers.
Just last week 32 arrested suspects were paraded before the public along the highway. Those paraded yesterday are Ali Bello aka ZUNGI (gang leader) principal suspect, Alhaji Goma Shehu aka Namagogo (second in command), Mohammes Muju’a (Armourer) , Danladi Hassan, Mohammed Abubakar.
Others are Daniel Owobi , Egwu Ogiri ,Bashir Haruna, Shedrach Hosiah, Victor Yohanna, Suleiman Isah , Abbas Aliyu ,Bala Isiya, Hafiz Jibrin , Aminu Mohammed,Absullahi Adamu , Tukur Ado, Iliyasu Soda , Mohammed Musa, Aliyu Halilu, Ali Adamu, Ahmadu Ya’u, Shehu Habu . Others are Ishakwu Ibrahim, Mustafa Ibrahim, Tanko Abdullahi, Jibrin Mohammed , Jibrin Wali, Tijani Ahmad , Mohammadu Rabiu , Suleiman Mohammed , Dahiru Bello Abdulkarim Bello, Mohammed Abubakar , Usman Abdullahi, Umar Garba ,Abdulrahman Amadu , Mu’azu Salihu ,Bala Isiyaku and Mohammed Sani.
The Police also paraded the following items that were recovered from them: One (1) locally made SMG, three (3) AK 47 Riffles, one double barrel riffle ,two (2) single barrel, one riffle with telescope sight, three locally made pisto one (1) revolver with 7.62M ammunition.
Other weapons recovered include one (1) revolver pistol,five (5) pump action riffle,thirty (30) life ammunition and cartridges, Seventy seven (77) 7.62MM ammunition. 10 9MM ammunition ,two (2) magazine, Assorted charms, five(5) laptops belonging to victims ,five IPAD belonging to victims, various types and make of handset (phone)belonging to victims, several wrist watches belonging to victims and jewelries.
The police said the arrests were made by police personnel deployed to clear the highway under Operation Absolute Sanity by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris.
The operations, comprises Special Police Force, Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Squad, Anti-Kidnapping Units, Intelligence Response Team, Special Tactical Squad, the Force Intelligence Branch with Headquarters at Rijanah, Kaduna State.
The Joint Police Team are under strict mandate to rout out the kidnap for ransom gangs and armed robbery gangs that have been terrorizing the Abuja-Kaduna Highway in the recent times. The operation is to complement and augment the on-going Joint Police/Military operations on the ground.
After the arrest and parade of thirty two (32) suspected kidnappers and their caches of Arms and ammunition on the 31st of July, 2017 at kateri on Abuja-Kaduna Highway, personnel intensified efforts leading to the arrest of additional forty (40) suspects and recovery of large caches of arms and ammunition.
The identified kidnappers’ dens, hideouts, camps and other black spots in the forest along Abuja-Kaduna Highway were stormed and raided by the personnel of Operation Absolute Sanity within the last few days and in the process three (3) victims (names withheld) were rescued unhurt from the gangs without payment of any ransom, and they have been reunited with their families.
Some of the victims have identified most of the suspects as the people that kidnapped them. All the suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to the various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crimes. They will all be arraigned in court on completion of investigation, the police said.
