The 2019 Buhari Initiative, has persisted in its demonstration demanding for the removal of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun.
The group commenced its protests on Thursday last week and participated in Friday’s mass protests to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office where the APC members attempted to submit a petition on corruption allegations against the embattled national chairman which the EFCC turned down, citing technical reasons.
Today’s protest was by far the largest and most vociferous since the commencement of the group’s activities since last week.
Numbering over a hundred, the APC members insisted that the national chairman must quit to allow for peace in the Party and assurance of success for the President in the 2019 presidential elections.
Led by Comrade Ishola Adesina and Alhaji Toyin Raheem, the group vowed to continue their protests until Oyegun is unseated as the APC national chairman.
After about four hours of picketing and causing traffic gridlock on the Blantyre Street location of the APC national headquarters, the protesters dispersed but not until the leaders submitted a protest letter to officials at the party’s national Secretariat.
