A Pro-Tinubu Group, The Asiwaju Progressive Movement has berated the Presidential candidates of the major opposition parties, over their comments on the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A statement by the group’s spokesperson, Joshua Owoyomi said comments by the oppositions are aimed at diverting attention from their failures while in government.
“We have noticed with total dismay the continuous pathetic tactics adopted by the oppositions this campaign period. We are disappointed that candidates contesting to become President of this great country under the platforms of People’s Democratic Party and the Labour Party, who have one time or the other been in government and are expected to tell us what they did while in government have only been going about distorting facts and figures”, the statement read.
The statement, pointing at the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, expressed disappointment at his inability to identify verifiable achievements when he served as Vice President in the nation.
It read, “It is disappointing though not surprising to see a man who was vice President for 8years unable to identify one or two verifiable achievements of the government he served as VP”.
“A man who as a sitting VP established a university while ASUU was on strike is now telling us he has the ability to end continuous ASUU strike. Is he planning to use the country’s resources to establish more self owned universities?”, the group questioned.
“He should know that Nigerians are not so forgetful not to remember his inglourious days as Vice President”.
Speaking on Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the group noted that he is basking in his new found fame.
The group said Obi, who is only in the race to fill the number, has not been able to point at any achievements of his 8 years administration.
“For the man in Labour Party, it is best to let him enjoy his new found fame. He is only in the race to fill the number like some in his new party did in time past. A man who for 8years led a state and can’t point to any laudable achievement as a governor is now hoping to ride on emotions to become President. Let it be known to him that emotions are not counted in elections but votes”.
The group advised the candidate to stop de-marketing the Nation, adding that he obviously has been doing all he could to divide the nation.
“He is busy going about de-marketing the same nation he hopes to lead, he is doing all he can to divide Nigerians along religion and tribal lines. Let it be known to him that, it will not work”, the statement further read.
“Nigerians are wiser and his divide and rule technic, that he used in Anambra State won’t work on Nigerians”.
“This 2023 election is about intelligence, competence, leadership and management. All the major contestants have been in position of power before, they should project themselves to Nigerians by telling us what they have done before and what they can do now”.
“How can you come to us as a former VP or governor and can’t tell us these were the things I did while in office and I can do it again? We want tangibles not fables”, it queried.
