Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles defeated Ghana 2-0 in their last Group A game at the West African Football Union Cup of Nations on Monday night.
Anthony Okpotu and Moses Eneji scored two quick goals for Nigeria following the resumption of the second half.
Nigeria had many chances in front of goal in the first half but had little to show for it until the 52nd minute when Okpotu opened the scoring.
Three minutes later, Moses Eneji doubled Nigeria’s lead.
In spite of Ghana’s loss to the Nigerian side, they topped Group A with six points while Nigeria finished second with five points.
The two countries advanced to the semi-final of the WAFU Cup championship.
