The Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Wednesday chastised the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in the State, Mr Seyi Makinde for his double standards, saying that an individual with such a major flaw in character cannot be trusted with the mandate of the people.
APC lambasted Makinde on his coalition with the gubernatorial candidates of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Femi Lanlehin, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Barrister Sarafadeen Alli, the leaders of ZLP, Pa Rashidi Ladoja and others, noting that Makinde’s coalition partners are in political wilderness and without any political relevance as depicted with their woeful performance in the February 23, 2019 poll.
The Publicity Secretary of the Party, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde stated that one of Makinde’s campaign brick bat against the candidate of APC is the issue of Godfatherism, saying that the onus is now on Makinde to explain to the Oyo electorates who Ladoja, Lanlehin and Sarafa are to him as the APC does not want to preempt him by calling them Godsons.
Dr Olatunde said that the contradictory standard of Makinde has further exposed him to the people of Oyo State as desperate, stressing that Makinde who has been defaming the APC candidate on having a Godfather now has more than three Godfathers with little political relevance.
The APC spokesman felicitated with members of the ADC, ZLP, SDP and other parties who abandoned the sinking ships of the parties to align with the APC, stressing that the APC knows their worth and will accord them their due respect and regard.
He urged all APC members, supporters and apologists to go out en masse and canvass for votes for the party as well as be vigilant to protect their votes on Saturday, stating that Oyo State in the hands of a double speaking individual without a public sector experience will take the state backwards.
According to Dr Olatunde, “We are very fortunate to have an independent man, a professional to the core and an expert in both the private and public sectors as our candidate. The pedigree of Oloye Adelabu is second to none and he is the only one that can sustain the repositioning agenda of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi administration. He got to the pinnacle of his career and the zeal to serve his people made occasioned his resignation as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“Oyo State electorates know the pedigree of the other candidates and we are very optimistic that they will choose professionalism, good conduct and ability to deliver the dividends of democracy as well as making life meaningful for the people of the state over a mediocre who is owing his personal staff and has many Godfathers from within the state and outside,” Dr Olatunde added.
