Agbowo Residents Hail Makinde For Rehabilitation of Collapsed Bridge

Residents and commuters at Carpenter bus stop, Agbowo area, Ibadan have commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the prompt rehabilitation of the collapsed bridge which links Agbowo to Ojoo express way.

The commendations were made when the Chairman, Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency OYSROMA, Hon. Kamil Akinlabi Mudashiru went on monitoring tour to the rehabilitation site on Friday.

Residents said they were happy that the government has shown that they hear the cry of the people and has promptly came to their aid by putting in the rehabilitation efforts.

A resident and clergy, Most Superior Evangelist Daniel Otakoyo, said “we are very happy and delighted to see the repair work being carried out by the state government. We called on the government on the repair of the bridge and they responded promptly.

“This is what is called governance. We do not have any other stake in government than to see anything bad and call their attention to it, we had a government that never cared about this place till it got to this situation, we call on those at public offices to do what they are suppose to do for the benefit of the people, once again, we appreciate Seyi Makinde for heeding our call.”

He added that rehabilitation work would prevent the collapse of the bridge, stressing the positive effect of the repair work on the socio-economic development of the residents in the area.

Another resident and commercial bike rider, Mr Akinola Olanrewaju, was full of praises for Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration for coming to the aid of residents in the area, adding that the governor was living up to the expectations of the people of the state.

“We really appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for coming to our aid in this area. He is living up to the expectation of the people. We pray that God will give him the wherewithal to achieve more.”

During the inspection visit, the OYSROMA Chairman hinted that the routine maintenance of roads across the State was based on the directive of Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that the rainy season was almost over and that routine maintenance and repair works would be speedily carried out.

“We are out on routine inspection based on the directive of the governor, now that the rainy season is almost over, repair works will now be done speedily, we appreciate the prayer and support of the people for the success of the government.

“We call on them to always call our attention to issues and areas they want us to work so they can enjoy the dividends of government and democracy,” he said.
