Ex-President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has expressed grief over the passing of the first civilian Governor of Abia State, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, describing him as a distinguished scholar and sincere patriot who showed deep commitment towards the growth and development of our nation.

In a condolence message to the family and friends of late Onu who also served as the former minister of science, technology and innovation, Dr. Jonathan noted that he was a voice of reason and crusader for equity and justice.

The former President also stated: “He was a man of exceptional character and resilience whose commitment to nation building and the socio-political development of our nation was not in doubt.

“He will be remembered for his personal and professional achievements and efforts towards promoting peace, progress and  scientific advancement of our country.”
