Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has commiserated with the Ighedo family and people of Ekpan over the passing of Chief Daniel Ighedo, the Vice Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area.

The late Ighedo reportedly died after a brief illness on Tuesday.

In the condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, Okowa expressed sadness over the incident, saying that it was a big loss to the deceased’s family, the PDP and Ekpan community.

According to him, the passing of the PDP chieftain is a big blow to our party, his family, Ekpan community and Uvwie, considering his immense contributions to the party’s fortunes in the state.

The governor described the late Ighedo as a “rising politician”, who contributed to the growth and development of his community and local government area, and stated that he would be greatly missed by his political associates.

He said: “On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I mourn the passing of a young but astute politician and a man of amiable personality.

“Ighedo was a renowned party grassroots mobiliser, who was loved by many young people within the party where he commanded strong following.

“He was passionate about the development of his people of Ekpan and Uvwie. The news of his death was shocking and a great loss because he was a valued asset to PDP in the state and council area and had distinguished himself in the service of the party and his people as Vice Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council.

“His huge contributions to our party’s victories in several elections in Ekpan and Uvwie remains laudable and highly commendable.”

Okowa prayed to God to accept the deceased’s soul and grant fortitude to the family and friends to bear his exit.
